The Romance which is Paris.
Paris has been the Mecca of all of Europe through out the centuries and what is entailed are remberances of those which have visited and fell in loves with the city.
One such report:
On through the French countryside to the romance that is Paris! What, don't we look romantic?
More like 2 drowned tourists, I know!
Despite the rain, Paris is very nice. Our first night was a tour of the illuminations. After all Paris is called the "city of lights". We enjoyed our view from the Eiffel Tower. Looking at all the city. Unfortunately this was a night and my photos didn't turn out. And we almost spent the night atop the tower with a few others, as we were "left behind", but that's another story!
We really enjoyed the museums in Paris. There was a very impressive Impressionist show I enjoyed. The size of those Monets are unbelievable! During our 3 days in Paris we marveled at the Notre Dame Cathedral. And you can not "do Paris" without shopping the Champs Elysees. Where eating your frozen yogurt at a table, ON the street is twice as much as eating it IN the store. Its all about "being seen" there. We ate excellent meals, which even included trying some escargot, "when in France..."
This is from Carla and Mark of California and Canada reported 2002 in Contiki Vacations.
In the New York Times published August 7, 2007 is the testimate of a Japanese couple. Waht they did as many others from Japan is to get married in Paris.
As the report indicates..
' The first time that Hirosha Watanabe and Naoko Shibuya entered a church was the giddy moment when they marched down the aisle, he in pearl gray tails and she in a frothy wedding dress, to the strains of the Wagner classic “Bridal Chorus.”
They were joined at the altar of the American Church in Paris by a minister, an interpreter, a video maker and a photographer — the players in Japanese wedding packages for lavish Western ceremonies with traditional trappings.'

Waht has been ocurring is that ' Wedding tourism companies are an established tradition in Japan. Hawaii remains the preferred destination, but lately officials there have started to fret about a softening in the romance market. '
Similar ventures are now being explored in California by its Asian population. No word as of yet if this trend has cross over in the European Americans.
Then we have an art lover from Australia who in his focus of art essays blogs has said this of Manet.
' The paintings of Edouard Manet show the enjoyable life which he led. Manet painted scenes showing the fun activities of the people of Paris, of himself, of friends and family. Many of his works were simply these paintings of enjoyable activities. He depicted cafes, bars, restaurants and other leisure activities which show the happy lifestyle that he had. Aspects of the surroundings important to him include the costumes and the activities of the people. The whole mood of the paintings suggest the pleasure, relaxation and fun of people in nineteenth century Paris. I will discuss the works of Manet which especially show this exciting world, and his desire to paint pleasure for pleasure's sake. I like the way which he chose to show this simple interesting world of people enjoying themselves and will examine several of his works which show this. Not all his paintings show a pleasurable look at the world around him such as his earlier works of working class people, but I will focus on the ones that do. '
This is his blog is you wish to read more. my art essays .
Romance and Art this are leading indications that Paris will always be in sort of a time capsule for centuries to come.
Later more will be discussed on this and more.
Yours,
Mr. Roger M. Christian
